I got the stock Lariat wheels with the Kumho stx. Nice looking tire, wish I got the 20" setup I was looking at but finances were not there at the time.

You are exactly right do not need any more added weight. The gas prices are insane and it is expected to go higher. I am ready to park it and get a hybrid for commuting to work.
Wheels add unsprung weight, which in way is worse than just adding gross weight to the truck itself. However, with a good quality wheel and proper plus sizing, you can maintain the same overall wheel diameter (makes truck neither faster nor slower) and can almost match the weight of the stock wheels.
About the hybrid, it takes almost 6-7 years to recoupe the savings in gas money when compared to the premium paid over a non-hybrid vehicle of the same make/model. Something i picked up on MSN autos a few months back.
