I have a 2001 Ford F250 Superduty 5.4L and I want to upgrade its performance. I boat a great deal and would like to improve the torque and gas mileage. I was considering headers and new exhaust. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
Headers and new exhaust as well as better intake would do much for you. With what you want to do I would go with shorter tube headers, better low end improvement that way. A properly burned chip would also help.
I bolted a long tube header onto my 1972 Pinto Wagon and added a set of modified advance curve springs to the distributor (I know, old car) and it added 6 mpg.
I have been dealing with diesels long enough I forgot much of what I once knew about gassers.

welcome to FTE the best ford truck site on the web.please take some time to read our guide lines and each areas read first to help guide you properly though our site.
now as to your truck all i would do is contact our webmaster at motor heaven and get a custom tuned sct tuner for your ride. the other items are not going to help out as much as they will cost. this tuner will be custom tuned for your needs and have 3 tunes 87, towing and a hotter 92 tune.
please enjoy FTE.
cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, exhaust, throttle body spacer... BTW from what i have heard- getting headers for the 5.4 doesn't really help as much as just getting a good muffler welded on.
I HAVE A 04 F250 5.4 , the best upgrade ive added so far is the k@n intake kit, the most niticable power increase, i also have a throttle body spacer-didnt do squat i think, the cat back exhaust helped some, thats all ive done so far the intake gave it a couple of miles better also
