Yep...advertising costs TOO much to pay for if you're doing so well you don't need it ;^)
I don't get your comment.
The loans sharks make money- they don't have to be full of suckers to make it, either. They have accounts. Remember, you only have to go in there once every 2 weeks.
My comment was a piggyback on my first one...that if they were doing so great...why would they spend the money to constantly advertise as the poster indicated that he saw an empty place yet heard their advertisements constantly...
If the place was full all the time, that would indicate to me that they wouldn't be advertising so heavily. Why spend the money on advertising unless you need to drum up some business??
Some taxation is necessary, else it all grinds to a crunch. Stupid taxes though, and wasting them on dumb programs are wasteful. TAXING YOURSELF by going to a FOOLS place to cash your wages is just plain contrary to common sense.

Lookit - you KNOW they are making money somehow - it ain't a free service.
Just like pawn shops - they are a leach on the backs of the general populace.
And they are raking in an awful lot - otherwise they could not advertise as they do. Can you not smell a ripoff at fifty yards???
Greywolf,
If this was directed at me...it was unnecessary. I KNOW those places are a ripoff...and a plague on society and I KNOW they make money. I was just trying to explain the relationship between healthy business and the need to advertise.
If a business venture is doing poorly, their best bet is to advertise (as much as they can afford it).
if a business venture is doing so-so...they will probably advertise to increase revenue.
If a business venture is doing GREAT...their advertising budget will probably be smaller, unless they're trying to become dominant, in which case they'll probably still pour a great deal into advertising.
Those "cash your check for a fee" places are VERY GREEDY, otherwise they wouldn't charge such huge "fees"...so they probably just advertise heavily in hopes they'll draw in a bunch more suckers.
And the bit about Jesus...Jesus was not a tax collector or a loan shark...that's why I didn't see the correlation.

Then why does McDonald's have a 100 Million dollar per year advertising budget? I see no reason, whatsoever for them to advertise. If there were never another McD's ad on tv, they would still flourish.
But then again, Micky Dees has been around longer than I have been alive, its a house hold name. There ad campaigns are focusing on getting you to get your kids to eat there, instead of somewhere else becuase they offer healthier food now. When something new comes along, they change the marketing campaign. Those check cashing places only offer one thing, more debt I'm sure they don't have to many repeat customers. . .hence the heavy ad campaign to find fresh victims?
My sister got with these people for a while and my dad and I had to help her dig out of that hole. They are scum. I have heard some states I strictly regulating these places.

Their goal is not just to flourish...it is to DOMINATE the fast food market...they still have competition and they want to stay ahead of it.
Look what Walmart did to KMart...advertising ("lowest prices...ALWAYS"). KMART , which started out as SS KRESGE (sp?). The first store opened in 1899 in Detroit. The first KMART opened in 1962, in Garden City Michigan. Walmart has all but put them out of business. Advertising played a big role in that.
Another example...look at GM lately. Until they started ADVERTISING their EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT PRICING, their stock was reduced to "junk status". Now they're flying high again...their business was suffering BIG-TIME...advertising helped bring them out of the slump. If they'd counted on that new sales offer to be spread word-of-mouth (lower form of advertising), their sales jump wouldn't have happened nearly as fast.
And...at least in my home town (probably everywhere)...higher prices at KMart.
With gas prices on a swift upswing...I like to save on everything I buy if possible.
Nobody beats Walmart in that department...that I'm aware of.
