When I got mine, same year same engine with an automataic.. it did that.. turned out the spark plug wires weren't getting a good spark and was stalling at every stop sign on the way home... It also ran rough when accelerating... Changed the plug wires and it ran pretty good...
also just wondering.. have you checked the air filter? sometimes if you have a clogged or nearly stoped up air filter the engine will stall at stops. also some time when a vehicle sits for a prelonged period of time carbon deposits form in area. most of time they form a layer over the pistion, valves ect. also it can stop up a muffler and catalytic coverter. i had a nissan once that sat for 5 years and i got it started and running but it wouldnt turn no more that 2,500 rpms floord till lol the muffler blew apart and then it jumped to over 5000 lol, i dont know how much this will help or if at all but some things to think about.
never thought of that but it still stalls at stop sign when i'm in gear... and it blows black smoke.. did put a new egr valve on plus about 5 other things tomorrow going to put on 2 inline gas sensors if it doesn't work i'm going to put in a new computer thank you again
I wouldn't be surprised if its the computer.... fairly common on those older rangers... but without more information we can't help you on this... hate to see you waste money.
