cutts's next big project??

i have been doin some thinking and i have seriously been kicking around the idea of pulling the 85 cab off the frame and swappin my 72 bronco tub on. anyone have any thoughts? any reason why i shouldn't?

i was just kicking around the idea that the chassis is already pretty much built on my 85 but i love the look of the EB plus i can really take the doors and top off. not to mention the 85 cab has way too much wiring for me. i will be cutting the frame down some but i was thinking maybe i could leave the frame just long enough to have to stretch the bronco body. then i could have a bronco with a real bed! i dunno, i am just thinking out loud and trying to come up with ideas

I think thats a cool idea, especially stretching it.

DO IT! It'd be easier to put your bronco on a 1 ton setup than start from scratch and have 2 one ton set-ups

I can see it now, 460 powered, 1 ton axled, EB on a heavy duty chasis.....

Not saying that it shouldnt or couldnt be done but be aware of the risk you run of the frame contour not matching the Bronco body. We have all seen when someone puts a car on a 4x4 frame--most of the time even if the wheelbase is ok, the frame hangs below the car body, making the whole thing look "white trash" if you know what I mean!!

No offense fishy, but I think it will be the ugliest thing in the world.

Not to mention you still have the fullsize frame, length, and width..

and none of the good characteristics of a EB.

bremen, if you dont mind explaining! i will have the best of both worlds.... the looks of the early bronco body and the narrow body width but the beef and strength of the built running gear. it's either that or i start from scratch and get another set of fullsize axles, another np205, nv4500, 5.9L cummins. then i'd have another rig to keep up!

i am gonna cut the frame down to fit the bronco body so i wont have the length but i will have the width. the fullsize frame will be a good thing b/c it's thicker and stronger than the bronco's original frame.

i am looking for both pros and cons and i sure dont take offense. i asked for it

im telling you, keep the leaves in the rear, radius arm susp up front, wrist one, lift it about 4-6 inches, throw your 1 tonsd and 39's under the bronc, stretch the wheelbas as much as you can, either but your 460/c6/205 in there, or leave that 302, find a 4 speed and run the dana 20 till you break the output shaft, then go with an atlas.

oh yea, u may wanna get a gastank and a gas cap

then put some rockies and your tire of choice under the white truck

Michie XL's!!!
Hes always wanted them... this is actually perfect!

Ko's right... donate your D60/10.25 to the Bko, get some 2.5's and some 46" or 48" michies... Unless you want to lose your front fender flares to triming, then you could get 53's... and your gearing would be pretty good for road driving.

This gets me thinking... maybe I should sell my D60/10.25" and swap in some rockwells... 0.76 overdrive puts me at 2600rpm while going 70. Not too bad, but Im used to 1800rpm... This would eliminate most of my driveline worries (I know they arent invincible...but close enough for my hp, maybe not my torque though).
Hmm... Now getting this past my dad without him really knowing whats going on...

The D60 and 10.25 would generate most of the money needed. I could save $200 on lift by getting a 4" leaf system rather than 6" and welding on 2" perches and and....

Damn I just realized how much Im rambling. Im done... Ill go ponder some more.
One question: Do rockies come with front lockouts, or is that something to worry about with these for highway driving?

Actually, a friend of mine has a eb body on a fullsize frame that he stretched the body on, it looks awesome. You wouldn't think it would but it does. Go for it.

If you go here: http://www.pnwfs4x4s.com/ you will find some pics of it. owners name is Randy and you can't miss it because its obviously stretched. Should also have some good rollover pics of him from our last event.
