I purchased a new 05 F150 Super crew last week. The morning after we took delivery I noticed a small ding in the driver side door about the size of a dime, probably smaller. I took it back and the dealer said we'll fix it and we can most like just pul it out. I said fine. Next day they called and said they couldn't repair it that way and that they would have to repair it from inside. So again I said ok. Next day they called and said that won't work either and they would have to repair it the hard way and they would need to paint the ding area after they make the repair. I made it clear to them that I was not happy about that and that if I saw the ding before I purchased the truck and they told me that they would have to paint the ding area I would not of took delivery of that truck. I spoke with the delers conflict resolution person and he got everyone together and assured me that no bondo or anything would be used and that I would not be able to notice anything after the repair. I said I will look at it when it's done but I'm not saying I will accept it.
It's suppose to be ready today and I'm suppose to meet with the conflict resolution person when we look at it.
So what should I do if it looks ok, and I mean perfect. What would you do?
Thanks

If the repair was done right I would smile and thank them. If it is not done right I would make them do it again until it was right.
You would be surprised how many "repairs" are done to new cars on the dealer's lots. I was at a dealer one day and met a guy who does touch up work on new cars that get a scratched or dinged. He told me he worked for about 10 different dealers and went from lot to lot a couple of times per week. It was his full time job. ( got that buisness card for future reference)
Save the blow torch for when you really need it. I had some door jam scrapes removed from my torreador red that I thought would never come out. You can not see any differance in the factory paint and the repair area (and I am really uptight about such things)
I would let them try to fix it. Check it out side in the sun light and then in their shop under the lights. If it looks good under both types of lighting you are home free.
You are one of the lucky ones, you have the trauma of the first ding out of the way!
Enjoy your truck.
Had almost the same thing happen to me - the repair was fixed to my satisfaction (you would never have known it was ever there) - if bodywork is done right (especially something like a ding) I wouldn't worry about it. It is always hard to accept the fact that you have had a car less then a week and needing to get something like that done with paint involved - but it should be unrecognizable by you.
I just bought a brand new F-150 FX4 Supercrew, when I took it home, it had a loud rattle from the dash so I brought it back the next day. It took them 2 days to fix, they had to rip the entire dash out. I phoned Ford head office and they said all they could do is ensure the warranty gets done. I spoke to the general manager and asked if they could give me another truck or refund me my money. It had 50 miles on it. I actually got a sarcastic reply back from them. Obviously, I wouldn't have bought the truck if I knew I would have problems on day 1. I also made it very clear that I was disappointed and never lost my temper. I wanted a new vehicle, not one that sounded used. Bottom line, once you sign, there is nothing you can do. I know I'll never go back to that dealer - not even for service - they will never get 1 cent from me ever again or anybody else I know.
I'm kind of amazed that they didn't just send you down the road and tell you that after you leave the dealership with your new truck, body damage is your own responsibility. I'm glad they didn't and I think this shows good will on their part. If I was in this situation, I would hope that I would show the same good will and just be happy they are doing something to fix it. I hope it looks great. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. Went yesterday afternoon to look at it after they said it was done. I couldn't even tell where the ding or repair was. It looked perfect. Whew I felt much better! I am very pleased with the way they handled the whole ordeal. I did ask them for the trouble I went thru if they could do anything for me on a set of chrome tube step up's and they will sell them to me at cost and install. I'm glad to have my truck back.
I had a similar problem on my 05 Screw. Scratch on the hood down to the metal. Didn't notice it until 2 days later. Sales manager made me fell like I was trying to steal something from him. If you look in your manual when you first get the truck, it states that you have 1 week from date of purchase to report scratches. The dealer repaired mine and gave me a loaner car while the hood was repainted. Looks great now.
