speaking of that family plan has anyone actually priced a superduty no matter which engine under it? Just curious what the priceis. I haven't even been to the Ford dealer to ask them yet

You can go to the Ford web site...do a regional search of the type vehicle you want...the dealers pop up with a list that either matches or closely matches what you want.

Ford provides list price and Family Plan price...can't remember if it lists rebates as well.

Plus once on the lot, dealer $$$ get involved.

Local values

I have been looking at SD prices for the last 3 months. I have checked out new ones and the used trucks as well. It is hard to find comparable 6.0 and 7.3 trucks because most of the 7.3 are older and higher miles. The low mileage 7.3 CC are priced at full retail or more around Arizona. Used 6.0 are usually at 2-3 grand below retail. V10s are cheap to buy. 5.4 trucks are about the same price as a V10. This is also due to the fact that there are 5 times as many low mileage 6.0 trucks available to buy.
I thought that I would find an 02 or 03 7.3 CC 4x4 Lariat with 40k miles or so for "trade-in" book value (27-28K) if I was patient. They are priced over 30K. One guy was asking 34K for an 02 with 22K miles. I could have bought an new 05 with the 6.0 for 38K,with the V10 for 33K.
Ebay trucks seem to be on the same track. People are paying closer to retail for the 7.3 trucks and a couple of grand below for the 6.0 trucks. Both are easily bringing the money back that was spent on buying the diesel option. I would guess that used gas trucks are 7K less than the same truck with a diesel.

Hey KW, I only wish you would be right about the soccer moms and dads going back to their smaller SUV's and mini vans. Sadly however, I really don't believe this to be the case. Not to nick pick anyones earnings or finances, (we all have needs, and some of us can simply afford to buy what we really do need - like a 1 ton truck for pulling trailers, etc) but the truth is that only the very well off can really afford to buy 3/4 and one ton crew cab 4x4 trucks STRICTLY as grocery getters.

They will complain about fuel prices as will everyone, but they will still pay as we all must, and they will still be driving their 3.5 ton status symbols around wherever they go and whenever they can. Fuel prices are not going to disembode their perceptions.
When they used to drive mini vans they noticed every truck on the road which passed them. Stock 4x4's looked huge sitting next to them in traffic while they were in their luxury sedans. These people want to be noticed for their status. No one can miss a 3.5 ton truck which sits 7.5 feet in the air - regardless of how much traffic there is.
Diesels are even better, since the engine's naturally noiser and thus commands more attention.

Fuel prices will NOT deter the posers who can afford the best equipt rigs money can buy just to be seen in it. Fuel prices will only make it harder for the guy who has to fill his XL regular cab 5.4L three times a week to get to and from work for that week - HE, if anyone, may be the one to try to find a way to make a ladder rack and tool box for the mini van workable.
