Health Coverage Plans
I can get a bare-bones plan for $600.00 a month but it covers only 6 doctor visits, no dental, no perscriptions...I'm in trouble.
When are we going to demand something be done about health care in the richest country on earth?

The latest smack by those crooks: We pay about $1800 a month for our Blue Shield individual PPO. My Orthopod tells me that Blue Shield recently paid for some procedures for his patients, then 6 months later sent him a letter saying they had recently studied the procedures, decided they weren't going to cover them anymore, and made it RETROACTIVE!! They are telling him he must return money they paid him months ago!
So now he's gun shy of treating me, until he gets something signed in blood by them, or I pay the whole bill and deal with B.S. (how are those initials for irony?) myself.
And I can't blame him one durn bit.
So if anyone knows a company that insures individuals AND is honest, please let me know!

I wonder what'll happen when someone else with the intestinal fortitude to do something about it tries?
A good old fashioned lynching?
I personally do not have any coverage, with two small kids. In NY, the rates aren't THAT bad, but still, over $1000 easily for me and my two kids, not to mention the wife.
Thanks, but I'll see the doctor when I need to, get the kids checked out every year or more, and pay it out-of-pocket.
If something big happens, well, here in NY at least, I only have to pay $100/month to the hospital

I don't have any coverage.
So far it's been out of pocket.
1 in 6 are un-insured and it's probably getting worse (not actually sure on this number). Anyone know for sure?
Good kuck for those who don't have health insurance.
psyclopath, Join the army for medical? Isn't that a bit radical?
What about those who can't or don't want to join?
Maybe we need a health system like Canada has.
Anything would probably be better than what we have know.

Still no answer to your question. I think there is no such thing as "reasonable" health care coverage unless your work provides it. Even work related coverage is decling with individuals paying more and getting less.
My experience is the people that say we don't need some kind of national health care are getting it for free, or pay very little for it. I don't mind paying $600.00-$800.00 a month-is that reasonable?
I'm a Vet and can't use a VA hospital because I have no service related health issues.

Maybe you have some hardcore VA folks where you are? I'd check it out.

Ben, if you are ever in need, remember that California has Medi-cal for any uninsured person. Yes, the taxpayer pays, but once you're healthy and working you're paying the system back and not drawing from it.
Drawback to Medi-cal is you might....emphasis on might...not get the best decisions, but you won't be left out in the cold either. Check it out. I used it when I needed it (as I did unemployment payments), and when I got back on my feet I bought my own insurance. No regrets or embarassment.
Truth is, a healthy person using a little public health coverage wisely costs us less than the same person waiting until they're in crisis and going to the emergency and or ending up in long term care for something that could've been stopped.

That's why I'm trying to to get back into shape so I won't be a burden on the system on down the road.
So far I've been relatively healthy and lucky. Knock on wood.
