got the engine from friend installed and put everthing from mine to it and now after all the work it wouldnt start tried the 302 firing order nothin tried 351 got a little running but had to play with the gas to keep it goin and still got some backfires not shure check everthing list new plug wires cap roter double roller timing set gaskets oil its supposed to be a 302 but what would be the chance that it could be a 351? turns over good fuel pumps are runnin but have to play with gas to keep it goin check all plugs went over everthing just dont know any help would be great
It might be a 351, but you would probably have noticed the difference, especially if you put your accessories and such on it. I don't believe everything would have fit too well. The 5.0 HO uses the same firing order as a 351, and some aftermarket cams are ground to use that firing order as well. The cam might have been replaced at some point, or the Bronco (you did say it came from a Bronco?) might have had an HO motor swapped into it. Did you use all your EFI parts off the van, or did you use anything that came with the Bronco motor?

I used all the parts from the van but my question is is it possible to get the crank 180 out from the cam doing a timing chain?
i brought it up to tdc and marked all of the stuff today still wont run have to play with the gas and acts like its fighting itself i know everything is right on but i had that question floating around in my head thanks
Well, you could get the crank and the cam 180 off on assembly, but since they are on 2:1 ratio, they'd be back on in one revolution. If you've got anything off by a large amount, it won't run at all but if the cam is one tooth off it'll run, but poorly as it will if the distributor is a tooth or two off. The thing with the distributor is, if it's off you can can adjust it to a certain extent, till you run out of room to turn it.
Notice that in the pic, you're actually looking at the connector(s) that plug into the scanner. The cover that keeps them from filling up with dirt and oil is lying underneath and to the right of the connector in the first photo.
