Can I rule out water in fuel since I had just drained some fuel out of the fuel bowl? Just a quick shot out. The oil is up on the dipstick allright and its pretty new. Is this a pretty common symptom of the cps going bye bye? Will it someday leave me stranded or just get progressivly worse?

The CPS usually just quits. What you have sounds a lot like the "under valve cover" harness issue. Have you ever pulled the valve covers and installed the clips from Ford? What happens is the injector wire harness plug starts working itself loose from the valve cover electrical connector, inside the cover.

I'm not saying that is what it is, but that is what it could be. If it gets worse, like doing it all the time, then it's probably that connector.

On the other hand, you're truck has gone a long way and it's less likely on high milage trucks IMO. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well It left me on the road today! What a comedy of errors. I popped the hood and got some white smoke, turns out the new heater bypass valve was leaking ontop of the back passenger side valve cover. and running down on the exhaust and steaming up. (there aren't any wires there that might of got wet and caused it is there?) So I drain the fuel bowl and try again, and no go. Cranks over great just no start.

So while waiting for my wife to come get me I decide to disconnect the batteries to reset the computer and I leave the key on and the fan and radio on to suck out an extra power. And when I reconnect the battery my cheapo alarm locks the doors with my key in the ignition , So I call my wife so she brings my spare alarm fob since I don't have spare keys (dumb) Finally my wife gets there and the spare fob won't work So we leave to where I was originally going and came back an hour later with a coat hanger and some wood to jam in the door opening and get into the truck and it starts back up and drives home no problem.

I guess I am going to get a new cps and try that since a bunch of you guys suggest having a spare anyway. We'll se where it takes us from there.

If you had my luck you would have left your cellphone inside of the truck and wouldn't been able to call your wife.
