Flowmaster catback is on... WOW!

Had a local shop build me an exhaust instead of buying the kit from Flowmaster. I am sure I could have done better pricewise, but they used 13ga! tubing (kit is 16ga), mandrel bends, and cut the back of the second cat until they got a 3" pipe mated to it. So, it's 3" all the way back now through a 50 Series SUV Flowmaster. I waived the polished tip, just don't need it or want it.

I was going to get the 70 Series BBII, but I am happy with the 50 series since I did want to hear it a little bit. Sounds great under accelleration, but not even noticeable in OD on the highway, and WAY quieter then a 40 series.

With the exhaust, MSD, K&N, and new plugs/wires/cap/coil, this thing MOVES. Wow. Kind of wish I had a standard to shift through, but the auto is fine just the same. I will probably do an MSD coil and be done with it.

I won't tell you all what I paid. What I did hear from MULTIPLE shops and from my old trusty muffler guy, and doing my research is that these particular Fords (especially the 351s and 460s) benefit more from a free flowing exhaust then anything out there because they are so restrictive after the cat. Ford really sacrificed some performance for quietness.

Sounds like you've got a pretty sweet set up there. I've straight piped mine right outta' the cat. 460 w/straight pipes, K&N. MSD ignition, and MSD TFI Blaster Coil. now all i need is the distributer. Rock'n'Roll my friend.

I just picked up the Blaster Coil so I could keep up with ya! Didn't notice much of a difference yet, but since I just disconnected the battery, I know it takes the system a while to set itself back up.

Truck MOVES, I know I picked up some MPG, and I finally get to tow again after all of the mods, so I am excited about that. Truck is going to tow effortlessly.

Awesome. I'm thinking about getting some Flowmasters myself. After i get the headers, i'm gonna 3" pipe it into 2 high flow cats, X or H pipe for the O2 sensor, then Flowmaster Super 40's. My factory cat is coming out cause i'm told i don't need it to be hooked up to the smog/air pump and it'll free up some horses.

The stock exhaust on my 460 really doesnt look that bad, but this is an 87 250HD, so its cat-free. It's dual 2.5" pipes into a single muffler and out into a single 3"

3" is the way to go! I run my 10 Series Flowmaster (deltaforce racing) with no cats, 3" Pipe, and a big turndown, and it is deep, nice, and loud. Absolutely no warping out at higher RPM's. Some car Alarms will start beeping when my truck is just idling. lol.

I'll try to update my gallery soon...I cant find my camera!

With the MSD coil you wont notice much except faster startups, I opened up my spark plug gap to .060" and it does seem to run smoother.
