Brake Upgrades

I'm interested in upgrading my brakes...beyond OEM equipment. I'm at 100k miles and just about ready for new rotors at 120 k miles, which will be my 3rd brake job.

I'm looking for a manufacturers and a source for Heavier Duty Rotors, with the best heat dissipation as possible, Premium Calipers & Brake Pads....I am soon going to be towing right up to the diesel limit of 10,000 lbs in the mountains...

While I may eventually consider an exhaust brake...I want everything going for me with that kind of weight.

Any ideas or suggestions?

We can't help you with calipers etc but we do have the Powerslot rotors and Hawk pad combinations. I have tried everything out there short of a total replacement big brake kit (waaaaay too much money) and these are the best I have found. The rotors are thicker, bigger cooling fins, and are coated the Hawk pads are very progressive and when you get in that seat pucker situation the don't fade either. Call us if you have any questions etc.

I upgraded my OEM brakes about two years ago with rotors and pads from Applied Rotor Technology. ART I found a significant improvement in stopping power and stopping distance. I deliver firewood, so I regularly pull a 10K pound trailer. I am very happy with the choice.

photomac,

Depends on 4x4 or 2x4 etc but around 600.00-675.00 for 4 rotors and 2 sets of pads.

I second that on the Hawk pads. I've had them on my Expedition and now my Excursion. Better braking, quiet, and little brake dust. I had 30,000 on my Excursion when I switched to Hawk pads. What a difference. Although I do not tow, I also had my front rotors replaced with Brembo OEM replacement. Thicker rotors and better cooling. I too considered ART rotors but could not justify the cost. Before replacing my rotors/pads, I've had to have my rotors shaved twice due to warping. They were torqued to specs each time after a brake job.

Drive Safe,

Dan
