I am planning on putting shocks on my tailgate. Has anyone ever done this before? I want to do it just incase I ever want to load up and my hands are full. I was planning on hooking up a shock to the side of the bed and the tailgate, then hooking an actuator to the actual latch mechanism then hooking it up to my alarm. Any suggestions?
Thanks
I'm pretty sure they are stock--at least, he didn't say they weren't. Better not assume. I'll email him asap--he's out of town--and let you know as soon as I hear. You know, I was disappointed when I looked at my 250 and it didn't have 'em.
I dont know if your lookin for no-hands tailgate lowering or just easy one-handed use. But Cabelas sells a tailgate spring for $17 and claims it reduces tailgate weight by 80% - just a thought ! Here's the link- http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...h-results1.jsp
Hey mgreene88, thanks for the help. I am kind of looking for a hands free but this might be an option. I am trying to set something up so I can have a tailgate pop, like a trunk pop.
Thanks again.
You would think Ford would share some new technology witht he super duty crowd. The New F-150 has a tail gate assist. Very cool. My friend has one. It operates like it weights 1 pound. The is a spring in the tailgate to accomplish this.
