has anyone used the torker and the torker 2 manifolds? im trying to compare cause im undecided on which to get. i have a 83 gt and im building the 302 for more top end around 5500 rpm. the motor will have 10-1 compression, a 224-230 degree comp cam, ported heads, big tube headers, dual 2.5 in flows, and hopefully a 650 DP holley instead of the 600. the car is a 5sp w/ a 3.73 gear. the torker looks as if it gives more top end but both are rated at 2500-6500 rpms.
I had the original Torker manifold, the one that twists the carb slightly, but it got ripped off recently (along with my F4B and my Street Dominator). It is an open plenum manifold which is good for top end with some loss of low end. I ran it on the Tiger, which is a very light car so the loss of bottom-end didn't really hurt it. I also ran it on my Late-model circle track car, twisting it to 7200 on a regular basis and it didn't ever seem to fall off above 6500. I prefer an open-plenum manifold on a light car with a mildly built engine. I have no experience with the Torker II but I heard that they weren't quite as good as the original. If you can find an early Torker, I'd jump on it.
I have a Torker manifold that the carb mounts to the side or twisted on my 65 fastback. I run a 750DP carb, TFS track heat heads and a X303 cam, 5 speed trans and a 3.70 rear gear. No tach ya so I have no clue what rpm I am at but the car runs great and even idles great. Throttle response is good as well. I love the intake and have heard good things about them.
Man, I wish I lived where you live! I can't even find those old Torkers around here, much less get 'em for a decent price when I do come across one. Last one I saw for sale was over 200 bucks, as I recall.
