Thousands of them starting back in the 60's with the FE series of engines, even before the 429/460 came into being. Just not in light trucks until the 460's came into being. I don't know if Ford ever built a 429/460 with a 2V in light trucks.

any 429/460 series engine that had a 2V was a 429, and they didn't use the 429 in the light duty trucks. until FI all the 460s had 4bbl carbs.

I think I'm getting a bit confused here...I am understanding 4v and 2v to be the amount of valves per cylinder. Someone straighten me out here will you?!?

2V refers to a 2 barrel carb and 4V refers to a 4 barrel carb. "V" stands for "Venturi" of which a 2 barrel has 2 and a 4 barrel has 4. All 429 and 460s have 2 valves per cylinder, 1 intake and 1 exhaust.

I can see how you mixed the two up. Ford made a 4v 4.6L in newer Mustang Cobras and use to make 460 4V big blocks. I would do anything for a 32 valve 460!!

What about the nascar overhead camd engines. were they still only two valves per cylinder?
I'm just curious now.
there has to be enough room in BBF heads for four valves.
I dare someone to make up a set

umm Nascar outlawed over head cam engines in 1964 when Ford came out with the 427 SOHC, and the dodge guys decided that they couldn't compete with it. The OHC engines were never allowed to run in an actual race, and no it wasn't a 4 valve engine.
