There are several plugs in the oil gallery beside the oil filter. There are also a couple of plugs into the coolant jacket down there. I have a picture that I can not get to upload that has some labels on it.

The plugs are after the cooler, the oil comes out of the oil pump and goes almost directly into the oil cooler front header, through the cooler, through the oil filter, and then into the block.

The picture I have shows the oil plugs being 1/8" NPT square head pipe plugs.
The coolant plugs are hex head and look like about 1/4" NPT.
It only shows one plug behind the oil filter, which is very close to the exhaust pipe.
There are a couple more in front of the oil filter that would be easier to get into without having to worry about the exhaust pipe burning the sending unit.
I am not sure how much room you have on the inside of the plugs though, if your sending unit stuck in to far it may shut the oil flow off.

Ill have to weight for my gauges to come to see about clearance issues, were to you think would be best location for oil temp, neer the oil filter or up on top were the pressure sender is, I dont want to tee them toghter because i fugured if they were teed the temp would be off cause the sensor isent in the oil flow

For what it is worth, when I used to run big trucks they all had oil temp guages in them.
They were all in the oil pan.
I am now in heavy equipment, if it has an oil temp guage, it is in the pan.
That is the hottest oil in the motor.
I do realize that would be a hard place to install the sending unit, but if you are overheating the oil, which can very easily happen in a diesel that is the place to moniter it. One of the oil gallery holes by the filter would be the next best place, but you do not know how much heat the oil cooler has taken out of it already.
I do agree that up by the oil pressure sender would be a bad place since there is no flow there. The sending unit is in the dead end of the lifter oil gallery.

I was going to tell you a story of how we check the max temp of oil protection back 30 years ago as I was taught by some diesel mechanics in the trucking industry. But it got to be to long, and modern oils probably blow the old stuff away. I know the synthetics do anyway.
You are one of the first people on this site that is concerned about oil temp I have run into.
Back in the 70's the tach, oil temp, oil pressure and pyrometer were about the only guages we constantly watched. If they were OK, the rest of them were under control.
