Anyone recognise this?

This winter there wasn't much heat from the front heater in my E150 van; the rear heater gave more heat.
Thers isn't a blend door issue, for sure, the door opens and closes properly and the cable is allright.
I opened the heater and show the pictures I have taken from the core, which does not look like a 'normal' radiator core.
Please comment on this as it does not look original ,as the hoses are connected to the tubes without using the quick disconnects and also I find it strange that the cor is blanked off with a plate for more than half on the inside.

Any comments are welcome!
Thanks a lot.

Hmmm, thats a first for me there To me it almost looks a little homemade the way that plate is tack welded to the back. I know I just put a heater core in my 91 Bronco ( about $20 bucks from Autozone ) and it looked like a mini traditional radiator with cooling fins.

Maybe head over to your local parts house and see what they stock for the van and compare?

Dunno if that was much help.....just my observation.

Hope that helps

Not able to edit?

I noticed too late that the pictures are really too large for comfort,
but I seem to be unable too edit and reduce the size.
Is there a time limit after one posts an entry?

Yes, I think you have 30 minutes to make the edits. Your pictures look fine on my moniter and it's easy to see why it didn't heat up very well. As robust as it is I wonder if it isn't a piece of military equipment and they used that instead of buying a new core.

Either that or somebody had some time on their hands and handbuilt it.

Pictures looked fine here also.......it definately needs some "fins" to dissapate the heat, those tubes cant do it alone.
