I have a leaky heater core that needs replacing...but how in the world do you remove the heater assembly. I looked it up in the Chilton's manual, but that doesn't seem very helpful.
I need some help on this one, any ideas would help. I'm sure many of you have done heater cores.

if i remember correctly, you have to remove both control cables ( never done one with the vac. controls.) from the heater housing, drain anti. to below the heater hoses, remove them, then unbolt the whole unit from the fire wall, and remove as a complete unit. reverse for install..... wash,rinse,repeat....j/k
Its even more fun if you don't have AC. At least with AC you DON'T have to take the dash out...... The chilton manual should have a section on how to change out the core, I just lent mine to the neighbor for the same reason.

Well, I completed the job. No, I don't have AC thank god. Didn't know the bolts were on the firewall, chilton's didn't say where the bolts were located.
