I just put a rebuilt 351M into my 1978 F150, I currently have a rebuilt stock Motorcraft 2v carb onit, I hear that EFI is the way to go for efficiency and power, Can i take the fuel injected manifold off an old lincoln or other engine? if so what engines are compatable and is this a logical goal? Thanks a lot :-)

 

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Oct-02 AT 12:19 PM (EST)]the 351m or 400m never had fuel injection installed on it from the factory so you wont find a efi manifold off of anything that will bolt on. what some have done is go for the throttle body injection(tbi) early 302's in lincolns and other cars had these but the cfm probably isn't big enough for your 351. you could buy a new tbi system from holley if you have lots of money to spend. they're in jegs. the other type of fuel injection is the multi port type. it has injectors going to each cylinder. i have heard of people taking a efi system off of a 87-93 5.0 mustang and modifiing the stock 351 manifold (or a aftermarket 4bbl) to accept it. i think the site had something to do with the pantera's. they had 351 cleveland which are almost the same as the modified's. you could also steal a efi system off a 351W or a 460. i know the 460's efi does not like big cams and performance parts. so whatever you do you're going to have to fabricate something yourself. good luck man
