Looking for a source that lists frame sizes of Ford cars and trucks for comparasion. Looking for correct donor frame to put my 38 pickup on. Has anyone done such a conversion. I know of a 40 Ford put on a Ranger frame, but I would perfer a V8 system.
Thanks, 38 Pickup.
Most of the ones I have seen had a custom frame under them, with an MII suspension setup. This would probably be the best way to go.
On edit:
Do a search for kit car frames, or classic car frames. There are a couple of companies that build frames for these old trucks.
I think '35-'41 (even cars) are about the same; put a MII front end in it and a crossmember to hold the engine/trans. I recommend boxing in the old frame, as they are very light- I can pick one up by myself!

If by correct, you mean something that fits, I would go with a 1973-1979 F-250/F-350 frame. I would buy a 78/79 truck, rip off the body, and put my body on. You will have to do some minor work putting new body mounts on, but, it is not that big of a deal. Plus, this way you get power steering, power disc brakes, easy to modify leaf spring suspension, and many aftermarket parts can be had for that chassis and suspension.
