Solution to Rear Air Problem on 2003EB
Rear expansion valve had to be replaced (parts are cheap) but the labor is extensive, when they build an Expy the first piece they put in place is the rear expansion valve and the rest of the truck is built around it (I assume this is because a rear expansion valve should not fail).
Front air had a TSB front Ford outlining the exact problems I was experiencing. The problems don't occur if the rear air is running (duh, my rear air was broken). The fix is installing a new switch under the center console.
Total cost of repair was about $950 at the dealer (I always have complicated repair work performed at the dealer) but Ford stepped up and paid for half (after all both of these problems are either design defects or mfg defects). I felt paying half was fair for me and them.
Now everything is back to normal.

Glad you're " chillin' " again! Great story about the dealer helping a customer. We need more stories like that.
