OK, I flushed my system and filled er up with Texaco CAT ELC (red), now I've found a couple of posts saying this is a no-no on my 95 PSD.....
Is this heresay, or has anyone actually seen premature seal/housing failures using this coolant? It was fairly expensive and I'd hate to have to drain it and start over....
I dont know about that product itself but you should use the ford brand coolant additive recommended in the manual, it is about 4 bucks a bottle at ford, I would think any coolant that is good for aluminum radiator systems should work but avoid the GM DEX Cool formulated products
They are not designed for the Ford...

While I have no experience using this type of coolant in Ford diesels, I do have vast experience with it in stationary engines. I can tell you this, if it can't find a leak, it will make its own. I have made lots of money working as a contractor for Texaco on their gas engines/compressors, trying to fix coolant leaks. The pink coolant is the worst in my experience of 5+ years working offshore for several major Oil and Gas companies.
Oh Crap....... The more I read about this the more it scares me........It says on the bottle that it's approved for international diesels, so I figured it would be ok..... I'm gonna go back to the Chevron Bulk dealer where I got it and see If I can get my money back (the normal guy was on holidays and the temp gal behind the counter didn't even know what the difference was between 50/50 and concentrate)

100% or 50%, is the difference. i hate it when i know more than the parts person. get that bad felling!!!
Well, after talking with you guys, the service manager at the dealer, a rad shop and an independent diesel shop (who all basically told me to dump it)....I went into the bulk Chevron dealer and demanded my money back.... I got a little squawk at first but they credited my account......
I think you will find lots of different opinions on this subject. I personally am running Shell ELC. I have had it in for about 10k miles so far. By the end of this year I should have about 30k miles on it. So far it is fine. I did however have a water pump failure with the factory fill of Gold coolant at 73k miles. I'll keep running ELC.
The problem is not the coolant, it's the level of sealing technology in your 95 PSD.
The motor it self will be unaffected, but the coolant seals are designed around the use of a silicated coolant (think green, silicates are for cleaning) and not a ELC such as CAT ELC/ Rotella ELC (non-silicated, chemical cleaning), this is why running ELC coolants like CAT and Rotella are not reccomended in pre 97 PSD motors.
A lot of people try to say that DEX-Cool = CAT/Rotella ELC, which simply not true, and is probably where all of the dissent towards diesel ELC's is comming from.
OTH, there are several people out there that are running these types of coolants with out any adverse affects in their pre-97 PSD trucks.
I personally see no reason why you can't run the ELC stuff if you've taken real good care of your cooling system (regular flushes).

I should have said that I have a 2002 F250. I skipped right over where you said you have a 95. I agree with what superrangerman2002 said about the seals.
