I use Uniroyal Laredo's, Michellin makes them and they are about $15-20 less per tire than Mich.'s. I do a ton of hwy miles, about 45k a yr and they are nice and quiet, handle well in the rain and very durable. I'm on my second set, I got 117k out of my first set, the Mich.'s I had before that I got 123k. I have 42k on this set and they look new.
I will never, ever, ever put Goodyear's on my truck again, what a lousy truck tire (I barely got 80k out of them, they came with the truck).
try a set of goodyear fortera silent armor they give you a thirty day trial excellent tread wear wet and ice traction put a set on my navigator makes it ride like a towncar and there is no roadnoise at all i love em
I really like the looks of the Revo's and was wondering how they handle on the road, and how quickly they will wear down. I do make several longer trips (200+ miles) a year and I commute to work on the highway so higher speed handling does matter to some degree. Mostly though I drive in town hauling the kids around.
I live in Arizona so I don't need something for ice and snow.
In Houston Pep Boys has the Continental Contitrac for the Expy (265-70-17) for $99/ea with a 25$ gift card per tire. I don't trade with Pep Boys but Discount Tire will match their price. I just had 4 installed and balanced for about $370 total.
The Conti's are not as good as the Michelins but they are half the price and come as std issue on new Expy's. I also don't try to get a million miles out of a set or tires (they are the only thing touching the road and I want them to have maximum wet/dry grip). I just changed at 50K miles, yes there was probably lots more miles in them but it is just not worth the risk.
I don't risk anything on mine...I carry around $4k worth of tools in the back, I loose those and my truck and I'm up the creek without a paddle. I just take good care of mine, constant rotation/balance every 5k. That's why I like the Mich/Uniroyal tires, they have a good compound for the weight of the vehicle with excellent tire wear. I only paid $120 per for mine at Tire Kingdom.
I put a set of Yokohama Geolander HT/S tires on the Exp a couple months ago. Really quiet with a smooth ride.
I put a set of Firestone Destination LE's on the pickup last summer. 31x10.5x15's and they are also really quiet and get great wet traction.
They get both got really good reviews at tirerack.com...maybe check their website before buying anything. I've bought the last two sets of tires based on peoples reviews from the site and have been nothing but happy with both sets.
