I need the bed floor for my 1979 F-150. This section is 49" wide x 76" long. It has 1" 90 degree bends on each side.... Please any info would help. Thanks
You must be talking about the corrigated 4x8 piece in the floor. I think there somewhere around $300 plus shipping. I'm not sure if it includes new cross members or not Unless you want a stock appearance you can do something like I'm doing. Remove the corrigated sheet, gonna be a bear...might have to replace the cross members... Take a sheet of plate steel and weld it in it's place. I'm doing this because I have a rubber mat in the bed so the corrigation is hid. That and my B&W Turnover hitch will be flush making a nice smooth floor
wouldn't it be easier to replace the whole bed? that's what i am going to do. mine is bent so bad a tailgate won't open or close. i hope they don't cost $300 either.
Hey Bentkey
The thought had crossed my mind but the rest of the bed is MINT... Just the center section is bad, I'm restoring this truck back to origanal and would like the use the direct replacment for this piece.
thanks for the reply
I know several people who had to replace their bed bottoms, they all seem to rust where the suports run across the underneath. I used a piece of 1/8 inch steel for my bed bottom, it was cheeper, and it worked just fine, and it'll out last a replacement panel. If you have a welder and some time just measure and drill your holes. Bed bolts will probably need replaced too, use grade 8 rated bolts.
Thanks to all who helped!!!For future help for anyone doing this , The bed floor centers on 1978/79 are the same all the way to 2002. I was able to buy a new one though FORD for a 1996 F-150. I was able to drill the spot welds and replace just the center section. I'm restoring this truck.
Thanks
Doug
