I am interested in adding some "flashing lights", maybe you call them strobe lights, I am not sure. Anyway the ones I have seen are in the backup light and in the front of the truck and flash brightly. I work near the road at times and would like to hook them up to one of my upfitter switches as a safety measure. Are they legal in Georgia? Anyone know where to get them and how to connect? Thanks, John
First I would check in your jurisdiction about the laws limiting lights on emergency vehicles, the definition of emergency vehicles and such. Laws vary state to state. I talked to enforcement folks here in Ohio some time ago about the wig-wag headlight and amber strobes on the back and was told they are OK off road or on the berm but using them while going down the road could be a problem.
You can get cheap strobe setups on eBay but the flash is not very bright in many cases. If you do a search for emergency vehicle outfitters on the internet or truck and wrecker builders in your yellow pages they can give you a start for a source.
THIS LINK might give you a start as well, it lists manufacturers and such for a wealth of police supplies.

I picked up a set of 90watt whelen hide-away storbes on ebay for 200 and change I believe. Installation isn't that difficult. You have to drill a 1" hole for each of the bulbs, run the cables and hook up a few wires. I'd say if you can use a drill and hookup a car stereo you're more than capable of the installation. Hope this helps
There is one more thing that I did that is pretty cheap. For about $70 you can add some LED lights and a strobe style flasher. I installed 2 amber LED modules like this http://www.rimindustries.com/able2/11.8201.htm between the tailgate and the bumper. Combined with the 11.1005SF flasher it puts on quite a show. The 3 inch LED modules are about $20 each, and the flasher is $20.
It's a whole lot cheaper than strobes and in my state, Va, amber is ok to use for something like you need it for. Check you local laws to be sure though.
