What to look for?
I figure this would be the place to go for this question....
I am looking at buying a 2000 F250 super cab/ short bed
7.3 pwrstrke with a 6 speed manual tranny.....75,000 mi.
My question is multi part.....
1) Does anyone know of common problems with the 2000's
that I should know about before going in.
2) What should I look for or check in regards to the engine and tranny
when I go to inspect.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!!

My many days of searching have just begun.
I don't want to go below the year 2000.
Should I stay away for the 6.0 engines?
Welcome to the fold.
I would suggest doing a few serches in the 7.3l forum, as the 6.0l forum has a thread specifically titled that, Mileage and problems, its right at the top.
Now for the news you didn't want to here. This 7.3 vs. 6.0 has been litterally beaten to death here. At times it seemed like Democrats vs. Republicans on some of the threads, instead of 7.3 vs. 6.0. While the 6.0 has had some unusual growing pains, most of the better dealerships are getting their techs up to speed, and are actually much more of a joy to deal with than say a year ago.
This being said, I am on my second 6.0. I had a 03 F250CC 2WD, with 60,000 on it when I traded it last month, I had 4 bad injectors, FICM, HFCM, replaced under warranty. Never did I have any of the surge, wire harness chafing, or many of the other drivability issues many here are having, and mine, like Tim's was a late 02 built truck. I also did have the intercooler hose blow off, but thanks to this site, I knew exactly how to fix it on the side of the road with minimal tools. The only reason that I traded in the 03 was to get a 4X4, and the pricing and interest rate on the 05's was to hard to pass up.
