Please Help me determine this noise!!!!!

Please Help me determine this noise!!!!!

OK, i just put the new ATS turbo on my pickup, it was done yesterday i took it for a drive today only to hear this wierd grinding, mix between hubs being locked, and metal to metal brakes coming from around the doghouse for the tranny. I am guessing it may be the T-Case but i hope not.

Symtoms:

Floor it, it makes absolutely no racket
Put it in reverse, it vibrates and makes noise
Get it up to 50-55 let off the gas to maintain speed, it makes the noise


I can feel this slight vibration in my gas pedal, and i looked at the underside of the truck, the drivelines arent hitting anything and nothing is rubbing. Oh by the way its not the brakes, i had them done the day before the turbo install, new rotors and pads. PLEASE HELP ME



89 Ford F250 4x4 ATS turbo, 4.11 gears and a C6 tranny

What is the cab configuration......regular or supercab........ do you have a two piece driveshaft.

Your downpipe is probably rubbing the cab.
The ATS downpipe is a very tight fit between the engine and cab.

Downpipe

Thank you so much, i really thought that might be the problem. It crossed my mind that the downpipe is rubbing the cab. I will be bending the S*** out of that little flange tomorrow then. I really apreciate your help.


That turbo is awesome, im so glad i did it it makes all the difference in the world. Im 19 years old its my second ford first diesel and i recommend it to anyone. JUST FOR THE NOISE!!!!! The power comes second

For what it is worth, When I was getting ready to install my ATS turbo motor I installed a two inch body lift first. That left me with lots of room for the downpipe.
But the body lift can open another can of worms depending on your truck configuration.
Mine is a 4 speed 4x4 86 model.
I had to deal with the transfer case linkage not comming out of 4x4 High till it was reworked.
I also had to deal with a E brake cable that was to short till I reworked the frame mount behind the cab.
Also I had to modify the fan shroud to allow the fan to spin freely 2" lower than it was.

I have a dump bed on mine so that did not need to be changed, the fuel fill lines may cause problems on a truck with a factory bed.
Automatic trannies also have linkage issues.

What kind of mileage are you getting with a C6 and 4.10 gears?
My T19 and 3.55's with 33" tires on it really suck the fuel down at interstate speeds.
10.79 MPG average for the year so far, but I do tow and haul heavy loads very often.
