another mirror thread (but need quick response please)

a pair of mirrors are coming due on ebay soon out of a 2003 expy. i'm thinking of getting them for my '97. they have heat and a turn signal - would there be any simple way for a completely non-electrically inclined shade-tree mech to get those features working (the heat/signal) since my '97 does not have those features?

and also, i'm assuming the electrical control hook-up would be relatively straightforward, just a little splicing and crimping - sound right?

You would have to tie the heat into the Rear Defrost switch... I am not sure on that but the turn-signals would be a very simple splice into the wiring going to the lights in the front. The hardest part there would be running wires through the door into the fenderwell and accessing the wires needed.

What I would look at in detail however. Is will those mirrors PHYSICALLY fit your '97 They have quite a different look and may infact not mount directly up.

thanks Matt - according to another user in a recent post all expy doors are the same and the mirrors will bolt right in. i really just want the bigger mirrors, i suppose if the signal/heat doesn't work i'll survive (as long as i can get the power movements to work)

Yes. you could get one or the other but not both on the 1997.
