choking when accelerating

hello everyone,
need help on my 89 3.0l. auto. my problem started a week ago. driving on a state freeway the van started choking while accelerating to a halt. engine is still running it just wont go. chokes when when gas is depress switch to neutral and slowly press on the pedal until it gets better and drove home for another 4 miles.
change a few things like spark plug wires, plug, dist. cap, distributor, air filter, fuel filter, and pcv. but did not do any good. i can drove it for a few minutes and it start choking again worst on a uphill.
i don't see any map/maf on a chilton manual

Welcome!!!!

Just a guess but I'd check the fuel pressure. I'm sure other more experienced folks will chip in with their advise.

I have Taraus SHO that was doing something like this, fuel pump was getting weak. It would work, but with low pressure.

Thats why you need to check the fuel pressure. If your reading is low, replace the fuel filter. If it is still low, replace the fuel pump.

Could also be a plugged catalytic converter.
To test it you can unbolt the y-pipe from the manifolds and drive it.

I forgot about the Cat. That happened to my Miata. Fine at idle. Give it gas and it just wouldn't go. Try to rev the engine in neutral and see what happens.
