I just bought a totally rebuilt c8ve engine for $420.00. It appears to be ready to replace my aging d3ve engine. I have heard that the new engine should get better gas milage as it doesn't have all the emissions and has a better C/R. Is this true and how much better. Also did I get an ok deal on the engine.
Also, I have a pair of dove heads also that I was going to put on my old block. Would I be better fixing the DOVE heads and putting them on or selling them, selling the old block for a core, and living happy with my new engine.
the C8VE heads are for all intents and purposes the same as the DOVE heads so no advantage there. as far as the comp ratio it would depend on what pistosn were put into it hopefully not flat tops cause if so your comp ratio is gonna be pretty high for regular.
$420 for a rebuilt engine is pretty good price as long is it wasn't put together with junk parts (then $100 would be too much) but if it runs good then anything under $1000 for a rebuilt engine isn't too bad a deal (read some other threads and some guys are paying close to that for junkyard engines)
