I just had to post this. I have a '00 Ranger XLT 4X4 with all the bells and whistles that I bought used in 2002 for $11K cash (35K miles). It's now at 53K miles and still running sweet and clean with no major issues ever. I was thinking of selling it and getting a 2WD since I don't really use 4WD anymore. The problem is I can't find a 2WD with all the features of my current truck (full power group, 4door extended cab with jump seats, champange ext, tan int, 4.0L V6 auto). To buy one new would be $17K at a minimum.
The point of this is: while doing the above search I realized how much I love my truck and the fine performance it's given me the past 3 years. Is it worth giving up just to lose the 4X4 and go 2WD plus take on a car payment? That's really the only reason for thinking of selling. I just don't think I can do it at this point. I luvs my truck!
BTW, I recently started using Amsoil with Motorcraft filters. I change the filter every 3K miles but the oil I've only changed once at about 7K. The oil was still pretty clean and viscous. I also switched to a K&N air filter, Autolite DP plugs and Autolite Professional wires. Prior to all of the above I could go about 230 miles on a tank of gas, 240 if I was really conservative. Now I easily get 270 with just city driving, 300 if mostly highway. Shweet!
