(sorry if this is not worth starting a thread over) so my buddy buys this 05 f350 lariat package 2tonepaint sun roof, everything i could live without on a truck anyways hes back home doing the girl chasing thing (there friends he doesnt just chase women in his truck, i dont think) exccept shes in like a mustang well anyways he ends up sliding off the road at a good clip the truck goes over on it s side then slams into the far side of the ditch
so what happened, he walked away, the passenger side frame rail was puched back a bit and the passenger side was dented up (with a small collection of grass and dirt) the truck drove away once it was righted, total price to get it fixed $6600.
oh and the mirror on the passenger side slammed up against the window broke it but was a ok just had to pop it back out (atleast the mirrors are built ford tough)
Usually, on frame vehicles anyways, the insurance company won't total it until the cost to repair it reaches 75% or more of the vehicles replacement cost. Unibodies, that's a whole different ball game, if it goes on the roof, car is usually totaled.
yeah with a 50$ truck the cost to fix was to small and the way the guys were talkin the frame well i didnt really understand it they said it diamond not really bent per say , like the two main frame rails are ok but the crossmembers slid something like that, it wasnt noticible until you looked in the bed and there were dents in the bed
yeah with cars also if the air bag goes lots of times its done with , but that 75% rule is usually allwasy true
mainly i just thought this was entertaining somewhat and indicitive of what the trucks can handle
