Some (insert expletive here) stole the glass from both of my side mirrors. I need to acquire the glass with the plastic mounting bracket that snaps into the housing. The dealer checked out the motors which appear to be working. Ford does not sell this part they will only sell entirely new mirrors (housing, motor, and glass) costing over $220 a piece. I've already checked my local junkyards with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
If I need to buy the entire mirror (housing and all) how do I mount them? I believe I need to remove the interior door trim panels, how do I do this?
If they didn't break when I removed them to install my MUTH signal mirrors I would have sent them to you for free...sorry.
I don't know where they sell just the mirror part but if you're going to buy the full mirrors go to eBay. They'll be so much cheaper than the dealer. There's a ton of them up for auction just search for "02 Explorer Mirror". That will usually pull up all the 02-04 Mirrors.
It looks like I have to buy the complete mirror. Does anyone know how to take off the interior door panels? I want to make sure I do it right to prevent any future rattles or noise.
As I recall the Muth site mentioned above has some really good step by step pictures for specific vehicles. that's where i'd start. sorry I don't have the link handy
