my f-100 302 has been hunting at speed. It usually happens when you accelerate quickly to 60 and then keep on it. It feels like the fuel pump isn't feeding it enough fuel at sustained higher rpms. I figured the electric fuel pump i put on it just wasn't cutting it at passing speeds so i continued to drive it, but now its doing it when you accelerate quickly from like 35 to 45.
thanks in advance for the help

how many miles on the motor. could be a worn or slipping timing chain. if you pull the dizzy cap and have someone turn the motor over by hand and you watch the rotor turn see how far you can go before it moves.
if it is fuel related whats the fuel pressure and is this efi or carb?
sorry about the delay on the reply, i've been on vacation. the cam, timing chain, and gearset are brand new. the engine has an edelbrock performer 600cfm carb, I bought the fuel pump from a local parts store and they said it ought to pump plenty of gas for my engine but it didn't have specific gph on the fuel pump. When I drive it and it starts to hunt you can let it coast for a little bit and then it will run normally unless you get on it hard. that's why it sounded fuel related to me.
It sounds as if you could be right. It may be that the fuel pump simply doesn't have enough output, or it could be defective. My local Napa store has had a lot of returns of a small, round plastic-encased fuel pump, I think it's called a Jewel or something like that. You didn't get one of those, did you?
