Hi I'm a Chevy man that at the age of 54 purchased my first Ford, now I have helped to purchase 2 more 1 ton Fords. This topic is about my first Ford and I'll post where you can see my first and know why I wanted it. First off it is a F150 1978 but looks like a steam locomotive. It was a total recreation for the builder and I'm still redoing much of what he did but I'm doing the work with new parts. I read many of the forums on this site to help with a recent charging system meltdown. My self and a friend spent a Sunday cutting all unused wires from the vehicle and ended up with a grocery bag full of wires. We then added a fuse box to the vehicle as the creator wired all accessories direct. Now thing work great and am waiting for the next parade.
6 cylinder. I'll post some engine pictures on my web site under the Steam Engine page after tonight. I need to work on wiring the regulator so power comes from the ignition to turn the charging system on. I like working on it but I hope it doesn't become a habit, I would rather drive it. Crowds love to see the engine as smoke comes from the stack and sounds coming from the sound system.
Problems I've fixed: new tires - all round, new brakes including rotors, new wood exterior - everything rotted, new carb, new ignition controler, new hoses, new rear wheels - rims are dually with special bolt pattern, new alternator, new battery, new brass bell and many other small parts. The tender and caboose have also been rebuilt.
