Post How do you like your 6.0 PSD????????

I hear of the problems people are having with their 6.0. I want to know if anyone has had good luck. I just bought my first PSD and after reading this forum of how everone seems to have problems I am a little leary about this truck. If your pleased with it or only had a minor problem or 2 let me know what happened and at what millage so that some of all this negative stuff on here can have some positive.

I have had my 6.0 Diesel for about 2 months now and have a little over 4100 miles on it. No problems and a very happy Ford customer !

I've totally destroyed 1 engine, blown 2 sets of head gaskets, melted the EGR cooler twice, replaced 9 sensors and regulators total, replaced the main and journal bearings on the new engine already, transmission has catastrophically failed and been rebuilt twice, and I have exploded 2 sets of front hubs.

1st engine made it 6400 miles. The present one has lived about 18,000 miles after a little R+R, and is still doing just fine.

After all that, the truck has left me sitting on the road precisely zero times, even after throwing a rod through the side of the water jacket and slamming the 6th cylinder piston into the head, it made the 12 mile trip back home.

Do I regret buying it? Not a chance. If this one disappeared, would I go buy another one? Absolutely, the very same day.

I've had my 04 PSD for two years, has 40,000 miles on it. It has had no proplems with the motor at all and runs great, all stock. Went back to ford one time for steering box leak. I get 15 MPG empty and 11 towing 8000# trailer.

At 2K my 05 lost a side carrier bearing (rear diff.).. It went in for 'both' the rear noise/vib as well as a somewhat severe 'clunk' between the 2-3 upshift that WAS NOT there new.. Ford has now released a TSB including this clunk/concern as Normal for the 5R110 as is the 2-3 MPH roll away clunk.. Something you may want to concider if ordering/buying an auto trans.. Can be pretty annoying, but not a huge concern.. Ford checked the remote filter (2K) and found it to be full of 'extra' bits.. Trans was dealer built.. The extra clearance in the diff. may have made the shift concern more noticeable, but is still there (and still felt/loud at times)..

The 6.0 has been 'rock solid' with no problems at 11K..

If the shift concerns were remedied, I'd give this build a 12 outta 10...

I got mine june 30th I have 1850 on it with no troubles yet runs like a bear and I love the PSD and the 6Spd. I am scared after reading all these bad posts I had hoped this would be a long time deal like 10 years or so I hope it lasts I spent allot of money to get this new truck and I will be sick if it's at the dealer all the time I have everything crossed hopeing it won't break. So far I love it it makes my 96 gasser seem like a pinto when it's loaded up. The heaviest load to date is 2200Lbs in the bed and it ran like empty.

My 99 SD had over 100k when I traded it for my 05. I have 7k on this one now and so far so good. I love the truck and in my opinion they are the best trucks on the road today.

With the problems/issues since 8K miles to now, dont like it, regret buying it. It does have great power, good mileage, but when you have problems/issues come up and the techs have no clue why the problems are there and what is causing them, not to mention the safety factor when these issues occur which have caused us to almost hit 6 vehicles, 1 police car, and 3 people walking. When the engine is behaving, it is awesome, when it acts up, it is terrible.

I think this is the best truck I've ever owned. The power is incredable. The handling is incredable, for a one ton truck. As one friend said "welcome to the 21st century"

I have no problems with my truck, and if you knew me personally that is not an easy accomplishment.

i have owned my 03 since dec and put on about 5000mi (now 34000)and the truck has been great. according to Oasis it has never been back to the dealer - i hope this trend continues for many years to come. my step dad has an 02 7.3 and he just also bought an 04 6.0 - the 7.3 is now up for sale and he loves the 04. again according to oasis the truck has been in the shop for the recalls and front hubs - but no engine issues at all.

I heard that !!! My 94 F150 had General tires. I had three sidewalls blowout within the first year. The General Tire dealer would not replace them so I had to out of pocket. I bought Coopers and loved em.

My 05 has BF Goodrich Tires on it and so far so good.
