I have a 1997 F-250 with the 7.3L Tubro Diesel
I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a kit or something that you could do to your tubo to make it whistle louder???? I heard something about whistler kits, that helps the turbo, and also makes the turbo louder... (whistle) If there are such kits, does anyone know where I could get them? I tried JC Whitney and 4 wheel parts.
Also... I was talking to a guy at a Diesel pump one day and he said on his personal truck, he has the stock turbo charger, and he also put a low-profile supercharger on it... Is that possible? I didnt think so, so I wanted to ask you all.
i have never seen a supercharger on a powerstroke. However, you want more whistle? Dont go about doing stupid ricer methods, get an open air intake, many will tell you to build your own, i say, buy a tymar http://community.webshots.com/photo/...43008330YeQcwI
Get a bigger than stock downpipe(your stock one sucks, look at it, then look at this picture) http://community.webshots.com/photo/...43009305dyJbMB
and get a good 4" exhaust with no cat, that tubro will make all sorts of noises
there was some sort of thing on Ebay a while back that someone was selling.....had a supercharger setup for the powerstroke....the general concensus over here was pretty much nobody cared to try it...
yew what stroker said. get a new intake. i built my own but look at my gallery and you can't tell a single difference from his tymar. but i did save much money building it myself so buy the tymar. then do the down pipe to 4 inch straight exhaust. i just did a 4" of perfectly striaght pipe fromt he down pipe to a 45 degree out the side before the read tire (see my gallery) with a 5" chrome tip. sounds great. just hack that muffler and cat out of there!!!
i wouldnt exit the exhaust infront of the tire, but that is because you will get crap all over your wheels, i paid WAY to much money to ruin wheels, infact, my exaust exits like a duramax, at a 45* angle, under the corner of the bumper.
hey TJ, thats a REALLY clean ride ya got there. my original exhaust was set up the same way as yoru was, just a little more ghettofied...(stock exhaust pipe cut up and welded to come out the side). if i didn't go to my stacks, i'd hae eventually done s set-up like yours. looks good!
I run a 3" to a 3.5" downpipe, adapted to 4" pipe, into a muffler, out of the muffler, over the axle to a 45* bend into a silverline tip.
Downpipe adapter(ignore the ujoint at the t-case... ) http://community.webshots.com/photo/119850942/349899581ZVFmdg
One more thing to increase your turbo whistle - install a Wicked Wheel compressor wheel. It is a lot louder than the stocker, and combined with an open intake and big exhaust - well, if that doesn't whistle loud enough, try an Amazon Parrot.
a non super duty doesnt need a wicked wheel, when you fellas install a wicked wheel, you are putting the compressor wheel we already have on your truck
