how to store crankshaft
Hey, im taking apart my 351w and now its time for the crank to come out. How should i store it while the block is being dipped and magnafluxed? I was told that a clean rag with lots of oil but i thought id ask you guys.

I always use wheel bearing grease on the machined surfaces. Oil the rest down with a lighter oil like wd-40 or such just to make sure nothing has a chance to rust. Bag it up and stand it upright like already stated.

if the block is going in to the machine shop so should the crank to be checked as well. especially to check tolerances so you get the proper bearing size and might look at getting the crank journals Trued up. otherwise what everyone else said is correct.
