Need help bad..The vent tube on the drivers side valve cover that goes into the air box is blowing oil out bad...I mean I must have lost 3 quarts in the last 1000 miles..At first I thought maybe pcv was clogged but when I pulled it loose I saw there is no pcv on it..My pcv is on pass side valve cover..What Am I missing?..Is there something on the inside of the valve cover that is missing that is supposed to deflect oil from coming out of the tube?..Everything else is good on the motor it runs perfect.
Thanks-
Doug
Only thing I can think of is that the deflector in the valve cover came off or something. On my 90 there is a flat piece of metal right inside the valve cover below the cap to keep oil from coming up there.
Yes, it should be vented. Fresh air enters the driver's side valve cover and exits the passenger's side valve cover through the pcv valve. The pcv valve connects to the intake manifold through a short piece of hose. Have you checked the pvc valve and hose? Is there good vaccuum on the fitting to the intake manifold? If the fitting or hose is plugged, or if the pvc valve is bad then there isn't any crankcase ventilation and oil could exit through the tube connected to the air filter box. Good luck, keep us posted when you find the problem. Sorry if I am offering advice on items you already know. ...Terry '90 F150, 302
Its almost like they are doing the opposite..The pcv is sucking in air and the tube from the drivers side is blowing air out..When I put my finger over the pcv with the engine running it stalled the engine.
