I have a 1977 Ford F150 with a 351 modified engine top load granny gear 4 speed. I would like to find a bell housing that will work with this transmission and a 460 engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am doing the same thing with my 77 except that I have a 429 with a c-6 and I am going to a 429 with a np435 four speed. This web site will give you everything that you will need to know to do your swap.
www.ncspecialties.com

When you get there just look for the conversion page for your swap, they have an awesome page just for the conversion you are looking for. Also reply back to me and let me know how it is going and if I can help you just let me know.

Matt,
Did you get your project accomplished? I'm trying to do the same thing....(429 to a NP435) and was wondering which pilot bushing you used? I think I have everything needed except the pilot bushing...I cant find one to go into the smaller hole in the crank and the bigger bushing seems like it will interfere with the input splines....I'm about to give up but Ive already changed mounts and towers and had flywheel re-surfaced and re-drilled for the bigger clutch and bought new clutch and pressure plate(LUK 758 00).
Much thanks, john

Have a machine shop modify a bushing to your requirements. Should cost very little.

John I finally finished my switch this week and it runs really good and the trans is okay. As for the pliot bushing I just went to Auto zone and got a pliot bushing for a 2wd 77 f-350 with a 460 in it and it worked fine. The only thing that was a real nail biter was measuring to make sure that my splines on the input shaft we not going to bottom out on the bushing. The other problem was making a bracket to mount the spring from the clutch fork. But other than that it works fine. IF you have any more questions e-mail me.

I have two different ones here.....one(MotorMite #14655) fits the bigger hole (approx. 1 7/8" diam.) but i'm thinkin' that it's positioned too far back from the bell to block mating surface and it may or may not interfere with the splines on the transmission.. the other (MotorMite #14656) is a shade too big around(1 3/8") to fit the inner hole which is approx.1 1/4" if padd77 used the bigger one and it didn't interfere with the splines then it shouldn't on mine either....I'll probably try the bigger one and mount the tranny without the clutch or pressure plate and see if the shaft spins freely, if not then i'll look for one to fit the smaller hole..the motor is still on the engine hoist so sliding the tranny on and off will be easy enough.....trial and error...we must really love our ford trucks to go through all of this. thanks alot!!!
