9" rear axle question
The 9" axle in my 84 bronco broke an axle recently and when it did it tore up the end of the housing where the seal mates up. Even though I replaced the axle and seal it still leaks bad. A friend of mine gave a 9" axle out of a mid 70s ranchero and I was wondering if anyone knows if this will work in my bronco. I know I will have to weld on spring perches but Iam wondering what the difference is between this one and the one that's in my bronco(its out of a 79 f-150) width, strength and can I drop in my new 31 spline axles and third member ? How about brakes ? Thanks. MB.

The ranchero may be a small bearing axle and if so the brakes will not swap between the two. I don't know how wide the racnhero axle is but I would confirm that it's the same width and i would also check to see if it has 28 spline axles. it's very possible that it does. If you need just a bare housing that fits your truck shot me a PM. I have a couple of them so I'm sure I could help you out.
