anyone have some good ideas on how to secure or disable the

There are some fairly sophisticated alarms available that have disable features. I'd back that up with an Omega GPS 2000 tracking device. It can be accessed by phone for commands, or internet. The internet functions include overlay mapped tracking and engine kill. So you can call the police, and tell them exactly where the truck is real time. Then once the police are near.....tell it to kill the engine. Helps "take a bite out of crime". The tracker is battery backed up, so even if they disconnect the truck batteries.....it just keeps reporting its position. It runs about $200.....and you will sleep easier.

Take a look here: http://www.gps2000online.com/.......don't leave home without it....I did forget to mention that there is a fee for the service.....about $140 a year.
I've also installed a paging alarm with dual zone detection. It tells me if it's just detected some loud noise or someone just bumped the truck, or if it is fully alarmed from a breakin.

Just put one of these in the bed.

http://www.templeguard.com/dogs.html

SIde Note: I googled a random sight for these dogs. They are the best, for protecting the family and property.

Were getting one next year for our own family.

Take a minute and click on the faq button at the bottom of the page. This guy put together a pretty informative page on these dogs. The theory is this is the first breed of the large working dogs.

My wife and I have been researching Mastiffs, and Rotis for a couple of years now. We stumbled on the Tibetan breed about a year ago. We both grew up with large dogs, and my wifes father still uses Rottis to heard cattel on his farm, pretty amazing thing to see.

Anyways I thought you would get a kick out them.

[QUOTE=watersurgeon]On a lighter note.

Just put one of these in the bed and you will never have to worry about your truck getting stolen.

The love you give, and receive from a good dog is unmatched in my book.

On a more informational note.

Start with this web sight. www.the12volt.com. This is the definitive forum for all automobile speciality installers.

A word of warning, don't post dumb questions, you will be ignored. I learned this quite some time ago.

I have found that its best to spend several hours here going through the posts you will be amazed at what these propellor heads will teach you.

If your capable of installing your own alarm then look at the following units. The GPS unit is a dealer instal only. The others can be bought on the net for around 199-300.

Compustar - 2WSS-AS http://www.compustar.org/security_with_remote_start.htm

or the VIPER® 210V GPS Tracking http://www.viper.com/security/viper/gps.asp

or the Viper 791 xv
