Guys, Did all 7.3 F-250 XLT's come with keyless entry? I was told my truck wasn't equipped with it when I bought my truck. I just wanna make sure the dealer didn't forget to give me the fob.
look behind your dash for the brain. on obs trucks its just to the right of the steering wheel. not too sure for your application. that is gonna be the way to tell for sure. if you find it it will have all kinds of fcc id #'s on it.
a fob brand new on ebay is 16.99 buy it now.
I have a very early 99, built 4/98 , and it has one. It is an XLT built for and sold in Canada. I added an outside keypad that you just program an stick on.

Go out to your truck. Put the key in the ignition, and turn it to "on" and then "off" eight times withing 10 seconds. Don't start the engine.....just to on then off. At the end of this exercise, the door locks should cycle if you have keyless entry. This is how you program a fob into the system. Eight times then after the locks cycle.....press one of the buttons on the new fob. Locks will cycle again indicating that the new fob is accepted.
You can get new fobs on Ebay for around $20 or sometimes less. Hope this helps.
Must not have it. I tried the excersise a couple times and they didn't cycle. Now how do I go about getting keyless entry? I don't want an aftermarket alarm. Thanks

The most economical way would be to find a "donor" truck. I don't know how extensive the wiring harness is different from what's under the dash now. Maybe none at all. The main item would be the GEM change out. I guess you'd have to do alot of schematic studying and eyeballing of the two to be sure. Sometimes operations like this are real easy......other times it would be better to get a different truck when you look at the labor involved.
In this case.....I'd think it to be fairly easy.....because it is an option. Your dealer may have a kit just for the purpose of adding it. I think I'd start there, and then look for a donor if you don't like the price. Hope this helps.
