I have a 2002 expy without air suspension, the vehicle has approx 47,000 miles on it. When loaded for a trip or when trailering a small boat, the rear of the vehicle sags. It is unsightly and seems dangerous, I have been looking to replace the coils with something beefier (maybe a progressive rate spring), I dont really want to go with an aftermarket air suspension or Timbren rubber springs.Haven't had any luck searching the net. Does anyone else suffer from this problem and how did you remedy it?
There is a peep who is getting rid of his LLS, Load Leveling Suspension, if your interested. I believe the thread its titled "LLS leaving-parts available" in this forum.
That sounds odd for it to sag so much....ummm, what do you consider a "small" boat?
One thing you have to remember is this vehicle is based on a F-150 suspension and frame.
There must be something wrong with the rear sensor, the LLS is suppose to keep the vehicle level. My 99 XP-XLT 4x4 w/ LLS is always level even when loaded - even with one of those hitch cargo extension with reasonable load.
I towed a heavy tractor on a trailer with my 98 expy and afterwards, my rear had dropped about 3 inches. I jacked up the rear from the tow bar and left it hanging overnight, the coils re-stretched and its been fine since. hehe
