Now I've done it... Got scalded.

Stupid pressure cooker design that I thought had all its pressure off.

The lid blew and scattered steam and water all over my left hand and side.

Its about stinging, and not yet bubbled up on my hide yet.

What is the best first aid for a second degree burn like that?

Ouch!

well, how bad is it? terrable bad and painful, or jsut hurts like hell but not really all that serious? if its the latter, just climb in a cold shower for around 10 minutes letting the water run over it. then, i'd let it air dry, but other sources i found said to wrap in dry gauze and seek medical attention....take it for how bad you think it is. don't put any lotion or creme of any sorts on it and don't pop the blisters if they form. hope its not too bad, good luck

Exclamation

cold water ....ice cold shower. But if you have gigantic blisters forming, Id get myself to the ER. The pain has just begun... the burn is still burning. Get that cold water on it for as long as you can stand per session. Then fill a bucket with cold water and get someone to take you to the ER. The sooner the better, wolfie.
owww. Having sympathy pains here. I hate burns...they gotta be about the worst thing I can think of because theres so little relief from burns. Good luck bud!

Worst of it is over - gonna be some seconds on the back of the hand and on inside of wrist.

PRESTO sucks - give me a Mirro anytime, and this would not have happened.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING as low pressure around boiling water.

I had to clean a half acre of stove top and counters as well.

Lessons learned - let it sit for a long time. DON'T mess with it!

I'm lucky in that I have some aloe vera gel with lanacaine standing by. It ain't gonna be pretty, but I'll get over it.

If I was half way smart it would never have happened - I just prefer to blame the appliance I suppose...

I've got a few "stingers" around the belt line, but I ripped the shirt off first and dropped it on the floor.

Yeah, get a Mirro. They may be more expensive, but they're a lot better.

Ouch I had a pressure cooker explode on me when I was about 2 years old. My mom was cooking green beans in it and filled it to the top with water. The inevitable happened bean blocked spout then boom. I remember it like it was yesterday, painful as heck. My mom threw me in a tub of cold water and took me to the hospital. All they did was gave me something for pain and told mom to get cocoa butter to put on the burns. Was the hospital stupid or what?

Maybe the lotion you get for sunburn with 98 percent aloe will help.

If and when it blisters try to keep them from busting. If they do bust keep triple antibiotic salve on them. Infection can be your worst enemy if they bust.

Seconds (second degrees) seem confined to a small area - an inch around on the wrist.

It won't stop me, I have things to do tomorrow!

Watch me workin'....
