Vehicle Speed Sensor error code

Vehicle Speed Sensor error code
I'm working on a '96 bronco because it's not shifting right (hesitates to shift up, hits hard at too high an rpm).
The error code says bad vss, overdrive light on.
I found the sensor in the rear pumkin, replaced it, but exact same symptoms.
My question is, is there another one in the tranny? or in the transfer case?
I've been under it three times, and the manual I picked up sucks.

What RangerRuss said. One way to tell you have cleared the puter, is when you first turn it on after re-connecting the battery, the gauges do a quick sweep to max then back.
Also, dont forget to check the wiring from the sensor too. May not be a bad sensor but a short or broken wire.
