Just thought I'd add it's ok to like gordon cus he drove a ford in the Bush series lol!!!
I trully believe that all of these drivers are just happy if they have a ride. Perhaps they do have a preference, but they really just wanna win and are prolly happy they are driving something American.
Not only did Rudd (on my fantasy team) give me the point's for a win but he kept Gordon from winning. Thankyou Little E for the help. A good day was had by this Ford fan.
tom
Talk about Gordon domination, feels kinda like 98 all over again lol.........good luck to the rest of u guys!!!!!!!!!!!
(just thought id sturr something up, no offense to anyone i respect all of the drivers)
Back to the adversity comment about Gordon. In an interview Gordon said that the boo's (although I think they show a total lack of class myself) get him fired up, so to call that adversity is kind of a joke. In the old day's when a rookie came up he had to fight for a ride and a rookie, no matter how good, never got a "golden ride" in probably his best year's as a driver. No doubt he is a good driver, but if you think he had half as hard a time as the old great's you need to go back and read your history book's. A lot of those guy's were half broke for year's even when they were winning because there were more expenses than winning's. You can hug Gordon all you want but I say he still has a long long way to go before he compare's to the great's. Not to say that he doesn't have the skill to do so, but.......
I really have no argument to Gordon's driving skill, even though his team is not one of the lower budget ones and having a well funded team doesn't hurt you one bit. If Gordon drove in ANY other racing series, I wouldn't hate him. He could drive in CART, IRL, F1, I don't care. I personally don't like him because he is driving is NASCAR and he ain't even got the slightest tinge of redneck in him. NASCAR used to be the redneck sport. Now, with a prep like Gordon bringing in the WRONG kind of crowd, NASCAR is getting ruined. Everybody's jumpin on the bandwagon and it makes the older fans sick. NASCAR knows what's bringin in the crowds (and $$) and they ain't gonna fight it.
Another thing: can somebody get the FOX crew to stop acting like cheerleaders in the booth? It's hard for me to enjoy the race with these ol' boys constantly talking about how much better Gordon is than everything under the sun. I'm sick of it. Also, Waltrip needs to focus more on the overall race and less on his personal attachments within it (i.e. his brother.) Was I the only one that noticed he really blew it at Daytona when Earnhardt wrecked and Mike Joy tried to say that there was trouble and Waltrip actually interrupted him so that he could continue on his cheerleading session for Mikey. I understand it was a happy moment for him, but that was just unprofessional.
It look's like this is having a turn for the better. I have to agree with the redneck thing and I am hoping that Elliot will start having a better year. Then we can here that ol' country twang of his.

There's just so many things wrong with this post it's hard to know where to begin. How 'bout we start with the fact that NASCAR stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, not Good Ol' Boys Swappin' Paint or Redneck Racing. There are plenty of drivers from all over the USA racing and winning in NASCAR. I've been a fan for over 30 years and I'm not from the south. For that matter since when is Illinois considered the Land O' Rednecks?
Finally, you need to look at the tape again. Waltrip was the first one to say that Earnhardt's crash looked bad. Sure he was excited about his brother winning the Daytona 500 and his first points paying NASCAR race but nobody including the winner even knew that DE was dead except for Kenny Schrader who actually looked in the car. I s'pose next you're going to be telling us it was Marlin's fault that DE crashed.

This post is pure drivel. Sure there's more money in NASCAR and guess what, it's drivers like Gordon that keep it coming in. Hell people tune in just to see him lose, sponsers eat it up and NASCAR loves it. Yes he got a good ride right out of the chute, partly because he came to the party with a multi-year, multi-million dollar sponsership from DuPont. Not to mention the fact that Hendricks is a 3 car team remember? Ricky Craven has already flunked out, Terry LaBonte had 1 great year and Jerry Nadeau is still a question mark. Only Gordon has had the skills necessary to be a champion not once, not twice but 3 times. So what if he didn't have to run moonshine to finance his ride? If he had been alive when the so called greats you love to harp on were running he would have kicked their butts too. The people that boo Gordon and whine about how "he hasn't paid his dues" are the same ignorant fools who sent death threats to Sterling Marlin and Bill Simpson. They don't deserve to be called real NASCAR fans.
Hell no it wasn't Marlin's fault, Dale just plain out lost it. From the way I saw it, he lost the air off his rear spoiler when Martin pulled up, then he slipped downtrack and clipped Marlin, and then instead of letting it slide into the grass and lose his position, he let the competitive spirit take over and pulled that header into the wall.
I was talking about Mike Joy's initial "looks like trouble" that Waltrip interrupted. I know that soon after, he shifted attention, but at first he didn't. The outcome of the wreck is irrelevant to my point.
Also, have you ever been to SOUTHERN, IL, you know, that part by Kentucky? It pretty much is the land of rednecks down here. I wouldn't claim the north part of the state if you paid me. You probably characterize Illinois by Chicago. Well, truth is, most of Illinois is nothing like Chicago.
And it WAS the redneck sport. There are rednecks all over this country, not just in the south. It started out in the south with good ol' boys racing the family car on the weekend. And, even as it evolved and got more commercial, it kept a lot of that redneck attitude. Only within the last 5-10 years has it gotten so popular that EVERYBODY wants to claim to be a fan, including people that don't know a thing about racing. Did you take these remarks personally or something? Let me clarify so that you may better understand it. The WRONG kind of crowd I'm talking about is the Abercrombie wearing, rich, preppy, "daddy buys me everything I want" crowd. They don't care about the racing. They just see Jeff Gordon as one of their own. They are the same crowd that's ruining country music, but that is a different subject entirely.
