My truck did not come with cruise control, but I have added a factory setup one to it. It is very sensitive and I have adjusted the "pot" sensitivity screw in the actual computer box trying to tune that out.It still is too aggresive when it throttles to maintain speed. If you resume it may actually downshift, overspeed, then back off and accelerate real hard again. it is a cycle that repeats itself and drives me nuts. Is there supposed to be some kind of vacuum break on the servo or what . I am out of ideas on how to tune it.I have tried different computers and servos, adjusted the chain slack etc. and still no better. i would appreciate any ideas.
hey Dennis, dumb question here on the subject..... i know that the cruise trucks had a special brake pedal and that the booster has a different end on the arm for the extra switch. i have had several setups that i have sold and recently i cam across a setup on a 79 F150 that had the linkage on the booster instead of a shaft running right to the pedal. the linkage has the odd angled end like the other boosters i have had. does this style of unit use a special booster or can a regular short shaft unit be used? i ask because i have an F350 tandem booster i would like to use and while i don't see any reason why not i thought i would ask an expert. hawkrod (ps, i have two more tilts, 3 intermittent wipers sets, and 3 hood lock sets, as well as finding two trailer specials and two super camper specials this week! eat your heart out<G>)
yeah, it was a 4X4 i got it from. i didn't realize they were different. am i correct in assuming i can bolt on the F350 booster to that linkage? looks the same but i wasn't sure. thanks, hawkrod
