Hello to all, this is my first post. I have tried to read as much on this website as possible, but there is alot of info out here. Since I am about to take a leap into the Big Blue Oval, I wanted to ask some questions first. I am looking to buy a 2001 F150, XLT, 4X4, SCREW, 5.4L, 72K miles. What areas of concern should I be looking for/at on this truck? I have seen several comments on the crack in the door and front suspension issues. I know this question my be regional, but the dealer won't go below $18,800, is that a resonable price? Thanks.
i would try to get the price lower than that. i bought my 2000 F-150 5.4L 4X4 off road, in 2001 with only 25000 miles on it for $19,000. The truck was in perfect condition. i've had no major problems with it. i haven't been on this sight very long but what is the thing about the crack in the door? is the crack by the window? i have one on the door right beside the rear of the window. if so i didn't realize more people were having this problem.
$18,000 is about mid-blue-book, which is okay. However, I bought a 2001 F150 C-Cab, 4X4, 5.4, 100k miles, pw, pl, cc, tilt, cc, a/c, yadda, yadda, which blue-books for about $14,000 mid-book, and I only paid $11,000. So, I think that if you look around a little you could probably find a better deal. Of course, the super-crews are a little more in demand, but they still should be a little lower priced. Just my $0.02.
