Hi I have a 1994 4X4 Ford Explorer and I need new speakers for all 4 doors lol well
1. First thing is every one keeps telling me to get 5x7's for the doors but i keep reading that they are 6x8's, which are they????
2. Second for they back doors I know everyone says they are 6x8's but can it fit 6x9's cause i found a good deal for a pair of 6x8's and 6x9's, i would liek to do this if they would fit cause the 6x9's have tweeters built into them lol
That's it for now till I get more money for my amp and subwoofers
I have the same questions for my 1994 ranger... it has 6x8, what can I use, and wil I hafta get a speaker adapter and wires for them if I get new speakers? Thanks
You don't have to get new speaker wires, if you want to you can actually cut the adapter off the wires and then crimp on some little female electrical connectors. And for the speaker size question.. you're going to need either 5x7's with a 6x8 plate (most common) or get some 6x8 speakers. 6x9's will be too wide and not give a good fit, I know they're usually an easier find, but getting the right size will be the best.
if you buy speakers on crutchfeild they will usually give you free adaptors and they also have a guide to tell you what will fit in your car... go plug in your vehicle and get a part number if you dont want to buy from them.. then you can get correct sizes
best thing to do is not to cut off the stock plugs just strip back some of the wire just enough to where you can solder a wire on there and then use that to hook your speakers up that way if you ever sell it you can just plug the factory speakers back in.
Crutchfield doesn't even know what size speakers are in my Bronco II. It's supposed to be 6x8's and 5 1/4's.. they list 6.5's and 6x9's. There's a few other vehicles that they just guess on. I love their customer service but it has it's flaws.
